Safety Disclaimer
Last Updated: May 27, 2026
At Optimus Robotics Academy, the safety of our students, instructors, and staff is our highest priority. This Safety Disclaimer outlines important safety information, potential risks associated with robotics training, and the responsibilities of all participants. Please read this disclaimer carefully before participating in any hands-on workshops, laboratory sessions, or practical training activities.
1. Inherent Risks of Robotics Training
1.1 Nature of Activities
Robotics education involves hands-on work with electronic components, mechanical systems, power tools, soldering equipment, rotating machinery, electrical circuits, and computer-controlled devices. These activities carry inherent risks including but not limited to:
- Electrical shock from improper handling of powered circuits or equipment
- Burns from soldering irons, hot components, or electrical arcs
- Cuts, abrasions, or puncture wounds from sharp tools, metal edges, or component leads
- Eye injuries from flying debris, chemical splashes, or laser exposure
- Pinch points and crushing hazards from moving robot parts or machinery
- Strains or repetitive motion injuries from extended work sessions
- Exposure to chemicals used in cleaning, soldering, or manufacturing processes
- Fire hazards from overheated components, short circuits, or battery malfunctions
1.2 Acknowledgment of Risk
By participating in Optimus Robotics Academy programs, you acknowledge and accept these inherent risks. While we implement comprehensive safety protocols and provide instruction on safe practices, we cannot eliminate all risks associated with robotics training. Participants must exercise caution, follow all safety guidelines, and take personal responsibility for their own safety.
2. Safety Rules and Requirements
2.1 Mandatory Safety Briefings
All students must attend and complete safety orientation sessions before participating in hands-on activities. These briefings cover proper use of tools and equipment, emergency procedures, location of safety equipment, and hazard identification. Students who miss safety orientations must complete them before accessing workshop facilities.
2.2 Personal Protective Equipment
Students must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required for specific activities. This may include:
- Safety glasses or goggles when working with tools, soldering, or operating machinery
- Closed-toe shoes with non-slip soles in workshop areas
- Heat-resistant gloves when handling hot components or materials
- Anti-static wrist straps when working with sensitive electronics
- Hearing protection in areas with loud equipment
- Appropriate clothing that does not pose entanglement hazards (no loose jewelry, tie back long hair, avoid loose sleeves)
Failure to use required PPE may result in denial of access to workshop areas and participation in hands-on activities.
2.3 Prohibited Behaviors
The following behaviors are strictly prohibited in all workshop and laboratory environments:
